Oakmont is a senior community founded by the Berger family in the mid-60s. It has grown over the decades, and, in fact, continues to grow today with new additions. But Oakmont is sounded by parklands, vineyards and a bit of Santa Rosa so continued development is only limited to filling in the few blank spaces.
Our largest neighbor is Annadel State Park, about 5,500 acres of hiking, bike and equistrian trails but without camping or picknic sites. Across the valley is Sugar Loaf State Park and down the valley are premier vineyards that make Sonoma Valley a worldwide destination.
Oakmont Village consists of about 5,000 residents who enjoy the pleasures of hiking in nearby parks, 3 swimming pools, a golf club with 36 holes, tennis courts, a first class gym, an extensive library, lawn boweling, an organic community garden and so many social clubs that we lack the space to enumerate them.
Beyond the Oakmont boundry is the "Valley of the Moon," one of the premier wine regions in the world. Though rich in history, filled with excellant restraunts and extremely senic, our valley is noted for world-class wines and wineries. For instance, nearby are Landmark Vineyards, Kunde Winery, Chateau St. Jean, St. Francis Vinyards, Kenwood Vineyards, Imagery Estate Winery and many more. These wineries offer elegant tasting room and beautiful gardens. There are frequent events that feature food, music and, of course, good wines.
In addition, Oakmont is within a short drive to San Francisco with all it's wonders. Our adjcent counties are Marin and Napa which also offer untold adventures.
Our Oakmont Village is clearly a wonderful and unique location in Northern California. We invite you to contact us for a brief tour of our community.
